Hydrangea - Peegee
(Hydrangea paniculata 'Grandiflora')
Pee Gee Hydrangea: A wonderful specimen shrub for anyone who desires the beauty of a hydrangea but doesn't have enough shade in their landscape to support the common pink and blue variety. The Pee Gee gets its nickname from its botanical name, Paniculata Grandiflora (P.G.). The shrub boasts snow white blooms in July that turn blush pink by autumn. These 6 to 8 inch blooms are cone-shaped rather than ball-shaped and literally weigh down the branches of the shrub into a draping form. Highly tolerant of pruning, the Pee Gee looks best when pruned into a small tree form and can even be enjoyed in colder climates.
